Genuine Jet and Skull Mourning Earrings
Presented is a pair of genuine natural jet (fossilized coal) earrings with a skull bead of bone (not human.) These earrings are designed by Mary Elaine of Soul Heirs. I felt a passion to create my own line of mourning jewelry due to the fact that the old world pieces are so hard to find - not to mention prices being out of site for the average collector of this era jewelry. After all, the "Other Side" is closer than we perceive. There are four jet beads in all on each earring, with a matte finish and are 8mm round. Earrings are set on sterling silver head pins with sterling ear wires. These earrings measure approximately 1 1/2" in length. They are very light weight on the lobes. Jet has a slight odor of burnt coal so one can tell the beads are genuine jet. Jet was the stone of choice during the period of mourning in the Victorian Era and said to have protective values from negative vibrations. Jet is becoming hard to find and is an expensive bead to purchase due to its rarity. These earrings definitely make a statement. They are rather macabre in design however skulls were worn during mourning so I thought the combination appropriate. Dare to wear these alluring earrings! Be protected. |
