Czechoslovakian
Czechoslovakia (Bohemia to the West being its core), gained its independence from the Austrian Empire in 1918.  In 1992 it became The Czech Republic. The Czechs are famous for their beautiful glass jewels of flamboyant colors and molded shapes and were the source of several types of jewelry including ornate brass filigree settings, brooches, bracelets, buckles, clips earrings and rings. Some pieces were a combination of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco Periods. A major exporter of glass beads and stones to other countries, many of these jewels were incorporated in the American jewelry industry. See the "Old Mardi Gras Section" for more Czech beads.

Czech Filigree Buckle
