Large C Clasp Floral Brooch

Presented is a very large floral brooch with three rayed flowers and stems of silver metal. There are no hallmarks or maker's marks on this very vintage brooch. It appears that it may have been vermeil as the floral centers have a tinge of gold coloring. Time tells a story on the older vermeil pieces. This brooch does not attract to a magnet. The flower petals and rays are all in three dimension, lending life to this brooch. I believe that it is from the turn of century - perhaps 20's/30's as there is a old c clasp on the back. Brooch measures 3 1/2" in height by 3" in width. Condition is very good. I have left the natural patina alone other than a cleaning. Pin stem is in good working order. Having a c clasp, the pin stem is not tight however it should stay in place when attached to clothing - there is just some play but stem does not slip out of c clasp. A wonderful older piece. |
