Stylized Sterling Ribbon Brooch
Presented is a rather unusual Retro ribbon brooch with the flowers having an Art Deco look. This brooch weighs approximately 27 grams of sterling silver. There are prong set multi faceted red glass stones in each flower lending to a simple, yet elegant design concept. The size of this brooch indicates that it is circa 40's, as sterling was a central metal manufacturers used during war time. Cheaper metals were prohibited due to the war effort. Brooch measures 3 3/4" in height by 2 3/4" at the widest point. The craftsmanship is absolutely suburb, yet does not have any makers mark, a pity actually for such a work of art. The back has a raised stamp which reads sterling. The locking pin stem is in good working order. Brooch is in excellent condition and would make a lovely addition to a collection of floral sprays. |
