Smelling Salt Vial with Brass & Glass Cover
The party I purchased this vial from thought it may be a smelling salt bottle or vial as I would call it. Vial measures approximately 1 1/2" in height from the bottom of the bottle to the tip of the glass cover. The brass pattern on the cover has a diamond/circle design which cuts into the brass. The glass stone is pale cobalt in color with facets and is prong set into the brass cover. The inside of the cover is lined with wax. There are four sides to this crystal vial, each side is indented which gives this vial dimension. The vial is marked "France" on the bottom. Age is unknown but judging from the design it could be late 19th/early 20th century. I did clean this vial but it could use a bit more. For such a lovely piece, it is very sturdy and would make a nice perfume holder - a perfect fit for an evening purse - truly a nice way to indulge oneself. This vial would make a great gift filled with a soul mate's favorite essence. Could also be used for aroma therapy oils for a quick pick-me-up. In excellent condition. Enjoy! |
