Gold over sterling (marked) U.S. Navy Pin with enamel plaque with red inside border and single star surrounded by blue enamel. I purchased this pin from a couple at an estate sale in which the father's estate was being sold. My own Dad was a medic in the Navy during WWII and I wish now that I could talk to him more about what he did. Perhaps he just wouldn't talk of it anyway. These pins represent a pride in which soldiers fought for our freedoms as we know them now. There is such strength emanating from this piece. Worn with pride. Coming out of the 60's generation, I never thought I would feel this way. I wish there was a better way and in light of "911" perhaps this world can strive to promote peace starting with each and everyone's daily practice to promote a better world for our children. I am not a war historian and I can not age this piece. Perhaps one of you fine Veterans out there could tell me. My own brother was in the "Vietnam Conflict" so I have a great respect for Veterans. This pin measures 1 1/4" in height by 3/4" in width. Would make a great addition for the collector of war pins.
