Libra Pendant and Chain
Presented, is a very large Libra pendant and chain circa 1960's. " Libra is the age old symbol for justice, harmony and balance." The Egyptians called this constellation the "weigh beam". These pendants were a familiar trinket worn by the counter culture of the 60's and astrology fans alike. There are no marks on this piece. This is a very unusual looking pendant. The scale holder is riveted from the back on Plexiglas and actually moves side to side as though the scales were tipping. I am not sure "what" is on the head, but appears to be some type of crown. As one can see, the disk has a goldtone boarder of a waffle type design with a star in the center. This design pattern continues around the circumference of the disk. Disk measures a tad over 2" in diameter. I am including a satin cord with this piece as the original chain is missing. Actually, I felt the satin cord look much nicer! This Libra pendant is in very good condition for the age. There is minor scratching to the plexiglas, but is very hard to notice. Some of the goldtone has faded but does not detract from the overall look. A fun addition for those born under this sign. |
